The palacete real is an impressive colonial Modernist style-eclectic liking palace that combines skillfully several architectonic styles, emphasizing elements of the of the regionalist and Cantabrian local architecture This work was assigned by Mr Antonio Alvarez-Nava to the renowned architect
Mr Manuel del Busto; close to the twenties, Mr Manuel del Busto was
an architect with name and prestige all over the Princedom to whom wealthy
clients were trusting important works on. For them he realised important
examples of regionalist architecture in which he agglutinated skillfully
classic elements and others from the local and Cantabrian architecture.
Highlighted are the palace assigned by Mr Jose Bernaldo from Quiros
in Somio, Gijon, on 1922 that represent the asturian version of the
mountain architecture.Three years later he would made the palace we
are talking about by assignment of Mr. antonio Alvarez-Nava in Villamayor,
Piloña, stiled closer to the Cantabrian works of Rucabado.
In the outside, it is impressive its stone made structure
specially carved by some of the best stonemason masters of the time. Pointing
out, the four sided roof tower, presided by a vane that magestically indicates
the direction of the wind and its pronunced wooden eaves. In its terraces,
balconies and windows can be appreciated the wood in a combination with
the forged iron and some brick made motives. The coat of arms of the Alvarez-Nava
is placed in the main front side. All this makes a great costume that gives
an atmosphear of nobility.
It has an especially chosen decoration. In the furniture, perfectly conserved,
can be noticed the time liking, which gives an atmosphere of distinction.
Standing out its bedrooms with dressed beds made of nobel woods with abundant
craftman carved cuts.
A palace with soul that proudly rises in the center of
a big private field to which we can access through one portal where can
be read the date of its opening (1922). And sourrounded by beautiful french
style gardens. All that placed in the valley of the Piloña river
sourrounded by the nature that can be noticed and smelled from its big
windows and terraces.
